Support St. Andrew’s

The Church of St. Andrew the Apostle was founded on Sunday, March 15, 1896 in Peoria, Illinois as a little storefront mission. The following year a Norman-Romanesque style building was constructed and still stands today as home for a caring, giving family of God serving to proclaim God’s love to our world through the living out and upholding of the Catholic faith. For over 100 years it has been a faithful member of the Anglican Communion, presently within the Diocese of Quincy, Illinois, under the leadership of the Rt. Rev. Keith L. Ackerman, SSC, a very faithful bishop who upholds the historic Faith and Practice of God’s Holy Catholic Church.

Being a member church of the worldwide Anglican Communion, St. Andrew’s holds to the historic Episcopate (bishops) in apostolic succession, the primacy of Sacred Scripture, the seven Sacraments, particularly the Greater Sacraments of Holy Baptism and the Holy Eucharist, the Nicene and Apostles’ Creeds, the Ecumenical Councils, and the Sacred Tradition of the Holy Catholic Church handed down from the time of the Apostles, the early Church Fathers, and with the consensus of the Christian faithful throughout history.

We support the following essentials as articulated by leaders of the Anglican Communion at the Lambeth Conference of 1888:

  • (a) The Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, as “containing all things necessary to salvation,” and as being the rule and ultimate standard of faith.
  • (b) The Apostles’ Creed, as the Baptismal Symbol; and the Nicene Creed, as the sufficient statement of the Christian faith.
  • (c) The two Sacraments ordained by Christ Himself––Baptism and the Supper of the Lord — ministered with unfailing use of Christ’s words of Institution, and of the elements ordained by Him.
  • (d) The Historic Episcopate, locally adapted in the methods of its administration to the varying needs of the nations and peoples called of God into the Unity of His Church.

In a time when the witness of faithful Christians and churches is crucial to furthering the work of Christ and his Church in a world which increasingly attempts to suppress and marginalize Christian believers, your support is greatly needed!

Join us in our mission to remain faithful Christian believers in a challenging time, bearing witness to the Good News of God in Jesus Christ, working out his most gracious Will daily in our lives.
We invite you to contribute to the mission of God’s Holy, Catholic Church through the work of the Church of St. Andrew the Apostle. Thank you!
